About The Symbols

OM
OmIn Hinduism and other religions, Om is a sacred syllable considered the greatest of all mantras, the spoken essence of the universe. The syllable om is composed of thee sounds a-u-m (in the Sanskrit language, the vowels a and u join to become o) which represent three important triads: earth, atmosphere, and heaven. Thus om mystically embodies the essence of the universe. It is uttered as a mantra and in affirmations and blessings, freely used in Buddhist and Jain rituals.

Spiral

The spiral is probably the oldest symbol of human spirituality, and suggests a cycle of healing and rebirth. In modern times, it is the symbol of spirit in Wicca. The spiral is a circle or ring of a spiral or helical curve advancing in a continuous coil, taken spiritually as a symbol of our life’s healing journey into wisdom and compassion.

Yin Yang
Yin and YangYin Yang is an ancient Taoist symbol, now found throughout the world today. In Eastern thought, the two complementary forces, or principles, make up all aspects and phenomena of life. Yin is conceived of as earth, female, dark, receptive. Yang is conceived of as heaven, male, light, active. The two energies complement, and cannot exist without each other, the balance of all life, and the equilibrium in the universe.
